Why I Love Kate

She changed mine.

There’s something I like to call the “Kate aka Alien Robot Effect.” It’s hard to explain, but anyone who has spent even a few minutes around Kate knows exactly what I mean. She has this incredible ability to make people feel seen, heard, and valued. She lights up the room wherever she goes, not by trying to, but just by being who she is.

One of the things I love most about Kate is how sensitive and caring she is. She feels things deeply, and she cares in a way that is rare and genuine. I am beyond grateful that she has passed that same kindness and empathy along to Della. Watching the two of them together is one of my favorite things in the world.

Kate is smart, beautiful, funny, and kind, but even that doesn’t fully capture it. She is unlike anyone I have ever met. For a long time, I genuinely wondered if she might be some kind of alien robot, because no one should be this perfect and amazing. I’m still not completely ruling it out.

She has also helped create something really special between Della and me. The closeness we have, the way we laugh, connect, and just get each other doesn’t happen by accident. Kate has encouraged that bond every step of the way, and it means more to me than I could ever fully put into words.

This website will only scratch the surface of how much I love Kate. I’m not on social media very much, but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to say it out loud and let the world know just how incredible she is.

And honestly, the more I think about it, the more I’m convinced that I didn’t imagine it. She might actually be an alien robot, just one that was perfectly designed to make this world and my life infinitely better. I love her more than words can describe.

Dan, Kate, and baby Della

We’ve been us since April 27, 2014

Still together. Still laughing. Still making this whole thing look surprisingly classy.

Random Love Notes & NKOTB

You are my today and all of my tomorrows.
Because apparently this site needed feelings and a soundtrack.

A Few Favorite Memories

Two of the Best Days

The day I met you

A completely normal beginning involving a very convincing catfish profile, excellent chaos, and somehow the start of my favorite chapter.

The day Della arrived

The moment our little trio became official and the world gained its newest tiny genius. Frankly, iconic work by the three of us.

Best Gift Ever

Brace yourself for instant adorableness.

Reasons I Love You

One click at a time, because a giant wall of feelings felt a little aggressive.
You make me feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.

The Kate Effect

The Kate Effect is what happens when one super rockstar person quietly changes everything in your life. She helped me become a better version of myself, more grounded, more intentional, slightly more responsible, and a smidge more like a real adult. She gave me Della, which already makes her a legend, and somehow made life feel bigger too, like there’s always something new she encourages our family to do together. But one of the coolest things she’s done is help me build a very special relationship with Della, not just the dad who spoils her or guides her, but a person she really trusts and loves to be around.

A Completely Normal Timeline

Step 1
I accidentally ruin her very convincing online catfish profile. A bold beginning. Not traditional, but memorable.
Step 2
We meet in real life and immediately feed a random stranger. Solid start. Very normal behavior. No notes.
Step 3
We decide, “Yeah… let’s just live together.” Because apparently that seemed like a totally reasonable next step.
Step 4
We very intentionally create the greatest human ever, Della. Frankly, flawless work by us.
Step 5
We raise her to casually win leadership awards like it’s part of her daily routine. She understood the assignment.
Step 6
We become a team, making big decisions, big moves, and doing whatever it takes to give Della the best life possible. Which turns out to be the whole point of everything.
Future, basically confirmed
We confidently purchase a charming fixer upper that is definitely not a money pit. It is. Of course it is.
Future
Della graduates from an Ivy League school and people assume we’re her grandparents. Rude, but whatever. We’ll still be proud.
Future
We coincidentally relocate wherever Della lives. Not stalking. Strategic parenting.
Future
We travel the world together until one of us breaks a hip getting off a tour bus. Iconic ending for our athletic era.
Final step
We pass away peacefully at the exact same time, in our sleep, holding hands, probably after eating ice cream. Honestly? Kinda romantic. Also on brand.

Win Kate’s Eternal Love

Stop the heart inside the green zone. Because clearly this relationship should also include unnecessary pressure.
❤️
Awaiting greatness.

Something I Don’t Say Enough

You are my everything, you are more than I could have ever asked for, you are incredible in a million different ways, I am so grateful to have found you, and I will love you always until the end of time.
